Commitment to Diversity

Diversity in Club Cast

In our first episode of Club Cast, Reed and I interviewed presidents Cole Sandrich and John-Paul Acker of the Community Helping Accessibility, Inclusivity & Resource Aquisition (CHAIR) Club. CHAIR focuses on raising money to help students and people with disabilities receive accessibility equipment to create a more equal community.
Representation
John-Paul Acker and Cole Sandrich work tirelessly to fundraise for equal access for students with disabilities. A community that has been misrepresented in the United States and globally in the past, it is important to give a platform to speak about CHAIR and its importance. CHAIR helps empower individuals through the promotion of accessibility and inclusivity, two aspects that are imperative to community.
CHAIR is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit that specializes in raising funds for those who cannot afford the… amenities that come with disabilities that are needed to perform everyday life.

Representing TEAM

Why it matters
TEAM is a 26 student program that is being threatened with a reduction to their model of a junior-senior program to just a senior program. Despite gathering over 1,600 petition signatures, the classes small size has skewed CAASPP results and made the course look like a small, easy to cut class. Although its small, I have been able to represent and cover the TEAM downsizing topic for the Bark. Being able to cover a small class that creates a large impact on student lives has allowed me to express a commitment to educational diversity in the district.
